Millimetrewave Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR)

The Millimetrewave CATR is a unique offset tri-reflector Cassegrain-Gregorian system. The system consists of:mmCATR Common View

  •  Spherical main reflector of 1m diameter
  • Two approximately 35cm diameter shaped subreflectors
  •  Three wideband corrugated horn feeds at 40, 90, and 180GHz

Rays

The quiet zone is 0.7m in diameter  and has ±0.7 dB ripple and 10deg phase error measured at 94 GHz. The surface has an r.m.s accuracy of about 8 microns.

The turntable system is mounted on rails providing down range movement and has a hydraulic mmCatr TurnTableplatform to provide height adjustment along with a precision cross slide providing transverse horizontal movement. The Orbit AL 4373-1 azimuth over elevation turntable can take a maximum load of over one ton with positional accuracy on both axes of 0.005 degrees. Turntable control is via an Orbit AL 4706 controller linked to our measurement software.

The range has been operated successfully down to 40GHz and up to 340GHz.
