Research Project: Advanced subband systems for audio source separation

The aim of the project is to derive new solutions for the source separation of audio signals, which can deal with real noisy and reverberant acoustic environments, as well as having the ability to track the individual sources as they move. Certain characteristics of the human auditory system will be exploited in the development of new subband algorithms, such as the ability to localise sound using both phase and amplitude information in different frequency bands. A real time audio source separation prototype system will be constructed.
