BEng Audio Systems Engineering
H657 BEng/ASE (3 years)

This programme is aimed at mathematically able technology-oriented students who have a passion for music and audio, and who wish to understand how technology is applied to music and audio, and to have a future career in this field.

students and researchers at a demonstration of surround soundAs well as a team project in the second year, you will undertake a personal project in your final year and will be tutored and advised in this by a researcher from the Department of Electronic Engineering's world leading Centre for Digital Music . In some cases these projects will also be collaborative with one of our industrial partners, such as Philips Research, Sun Microsystems and Yahoo. Some projects will use our state-of-the-art, 3D listening and performing space, the Augmented Human Computer Interaction lab, and/or involve working with musicians and creative artists.

The rapid advancements in the technology and commerce of Digital Music and Audio means that employment options are broad, and enhanced by this degree’s IEE Accreditation (pending). This means that you might find a job upon graduating, in conventional electronics and telecommunications companies needing expertise in this field, or in the creative media industry.
