Postdoctoral Research Opportunities and Fellowships
At the Centre for Digital Music we are always open to enquiries from
people who wish to work with us, either as postdoctoral Research Assistants
on funded projects, or as Research Fellows funded by a fellowship scheme.
Postdoctoral Research Assistant opportunities
We sometimes have openings Postdoctoral Research Assistants funded by research
projects. These jobs will be advertised on the university's Human Resources
(HR) website, see:
They will also be advertised on jobs.ac.uk, which also provides an email update service.
Fellowship Schemes
As well as Research Assistants funded by projects, we can also help
people who wish to apply for their own funding via a postdoctoral Research
Fellowship to carry our research work with us. A number of schemes
are available, with varying eligibility: some of these schemes are
detailed below.
Newton International Fellowships
Awards enable early stage postdoctoral researchers to work at UK research institutions
for a period of two years. Applicants should be working outside the UK and
should not hold UK citizenship.

Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowships (IEF)
An EU Framework 7 (FP7) scheme for experienced researchers (typically
postdoctoral) who wish to move from one Member State or Associated
country to another (e.g.
the UK). Here "Europe" means
an EU Member State or Associated country.

EPSRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowships
A scheme for talented new researchers to establish an independent research career
shortly after completing a PhD (up to three years postdoctoral research). The
"Cross-Disciplinary Interfaces" fellowships are most likely to be of interest
for C4DM candidates.

Royal Society University Research Fellowships
The University Research Fellowships scheme aims to provide
outstanding scientists, who should have the potential to become leaders
in their chosen field, with the opportunity to build an independent
research career.

RAEng/EPSRC Research Fellowships
These provide support
for high-quality engineers and encourage them to develop successful
academic
research careers. Applicants may be about to finish their PhD or
have up to three years Post-Doctoral research experience. The scheme
provides funding for five years to
encourage the best researchers to remain in the academic engineering
sector.

Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships
The Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship scheme supports excellent scientists and engineers
at an early stage of their career, and is designed to help them to progress
to a permanent position. It is aimed specifically at researchers who require
a flexible working pattern due to personal circumstances including parental/caring
responsibilites and health issues. Female candiates are particularly invited
to apply.

Royal Commission for the Exhibition of
1851:
1851 Research Fellowships in Science or Engineering
These enable PhD level scientists or engineers of outstanding promise to conduct
research for a further period. A candidate must be a citizen of the United
Kingdom or the Commonwealth, or of the Republics of Ireland or Pakistan.

Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships
These aim to provide career development opportunities for those who are at
a relatively early stage of their academic careers but with a proven record
of research. Applicants should normally hold a degree from a UK higher education
institution, or hold an academic position in the UK.
