We regret that direct applications from researchers based outside the UK cannot be considered. Funding available to the network is limited. Applicants for overseas travel or visits to UK research labs of are encouraged to apply to other sources of funding to help towards the cost of their travel, including their own organization. Other sources of funding to consider include: British Academy (e.g. Overseas Conference Grants); Royal Society; Royal Academy of Engineering (e.g. International Travel Grants scheme). Successful applicants will be asked to write a brief report about their visit, for distribution via the Network web site. Support will normally be limited to max £500 per case. Actual travel expenditure incurred, up to the awarded limit, will be reimbursed after the travel against submission of receipts. In considering the relative priority of applications for conference travel, we will consider issues such as (in no particular order):
Applications will be considered at any time, but we cannot consider retrospective applications. Please apply at least 8 weeks before you intend to travel, so that we have time to consider your application and inform you of our decision before you make any travel arrangements. To make the best use of travel support funding, young researchers applying for funding are expected to make use of the most cost effective method of travel and accommodation.
