International Research Laboratory on Electromagnetic Theory and Applications - Wireless Communication Engineering

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications
and
Queen Mary, University of London

Objectives

The International Research Laboratory will serve as a bridge for research and academic cooperation between Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) and Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL) through a programme of exchange and joint research project.

The Lab will promote academic exchanges and sharing of resources between both institutions, make the most of the knowledge and experience of successful research activities in both institutions and distinguish itself in research innovation and excellence. The Lab will also build up wide links with other institutions and industry and draw on the resources in both countries. The Lab is aiming to become an international leading research centre in the areas of electromagnetic theory and applications - wireless communication engineering. Meanwhile, the Lab will serve as a platform for enhancing the international reputation of BUPT and QMUL’s visibility in China.

Activities

We are planning to carry out the following research activities:

1. To apply for the research funding widely from governments and industries of both countries.

2. To organise joint research projects. The Lab will build up the research links and pool the expertise and resources of both institutions to tackle challenging technological problems collectively based on the win-win policy.

3. To arrange academic exchanges, including academic visitors, lectures, seminars and workshops.

4. To recruit and train research students at MSc and PhD levels. The students will be exposed to the cutting edge technologies and become an important part of the research team in the Lab.

5. To teach the relevant subjects based on the taught courses at QMUL so as to reinforce the cooperation and exchanges in teaching;

6. To assist with the other cooperation activities between two institutions.
