Research Group: Multimedia and Vision Research Group

Supervisor: Dr Ioannis Patras

Research Topic: Object Recognition in optical image sequences

Research Scope:

The research will focus on learning models of object appearance and (3D) structure from examples of the target, and aims at an explicit treatment of partial target occlusion.
In addition to static geometric constraints and appearance information we also intend to investigate the use of temporal information that is available from the analysis of image sequences. Temporal information will provide cues for the detection and treatment of partial occlusions. Within this context, we will address the problem of feature extraction and feature selection for simultaneous tracking and recognition.

Research interests: Pattern recognition, machine learning

Biography

I received the BSc degree and MSc degree in Information and Communication Engineering from the National University of Defense Technology, Changsha, China, in 2005 and 2007, respectively. I am currently studying in MMV group, Department of Electronic Engineering, Queen Mary, University of London, London, UK as a visiting PhD student. My main research interests are in pattern recognition and machine learning.
