Dan Ellis, Columbia University, New York USA
Thursday 29 July 2004

Abstract

I will describe some recent and ongoing projects in LabROSA relating
to music and general audio analysis, including:

  • Eigenrhythms - subspace analysis of drum patterns extracted from pop music [pdf]
  • Temporal envelope modeling via linear prediction applied to spectra, and applications in analysis/synthesis
(This pdf document describes applications in speech recognition)
  • Music similarity browsing using genre-based 'anchor-spaces' [pdf] [pdf]
  • Source/filter factored generative models for audio based on frame-to-frame transformations [pdf]
  • Segmenting and classifying long-duration `personal audio' recordings [pdf]
  • Some early work on pitch detection by trained pattern recognition
