Abstract

John Buckman, who is the CEO/Founder of Magnatune.com, will speak about the music industry in the new Internet reality: piracy, P2P, RIAA lawsuits and the increasing irrelevance of the old music industry system. Buckman will explain how music licensing is actually where the money is made in the music business, how it works, and what it might look like in five years. Buckman will also explain the design decisions behind Magnatune's business model and web site, giving you an inside look at how a next-generation music business works.
