AXIS - an Acquisition eXchange Indexing Structuration for audio content

Michel Merten and Philippe Scohy
Memnon Archiving Services

Monday 13 October 2008, 14:00, Room 203

Abstract

Memnon are world leaders in audio archiving, digitisation, preservation and indexing. In this talk they will give a brief overview of their services and present AXIS, a semantic wrapper developed in the Memories project. It provides a service for the acquisition of audio material on any carrier able to ensure their powerful restoration, structuring, indexation and enhancement, their embodiment with the persistence information and their wrapping for exchange or archiving. Those acquired entities, called 'Autonomous Assets Entities' (AAE) have the properties associated with the Archival Information Packages (AIP) and with the Submission Information Packages (SIP) of the reference model ISO standard "Open Archival Information Systems". The talk will be followed with demonstrations of this and other technologies developed in the Memories project.
