Audio and Video Representation in MPEG-7
Adam Lindsay, University of Lancaster
30th January, 2002
The new ISO standard for a "Multimedia Content Description Interface"
brings together many years of research in several related fields.
The basic goal of the standard is to provide a baseline for *representing*
audio-visual content, using not only text, but numeric values for
signal-processing-based features. This talk will be an overview of
the standard, giving a sense of the activities in Audio, Video, Multimedia
Description Schemes, and the newly completed work in Systems. Adam
will also give a look into some Audio applications, like query-by-humming,
and CCTV applications, as they pertain to his involvement in the RETRIEVE
project.
