Advanced Electrical & Electronic Studies (Credits: 15)

The module uses seminar teaching and small projects to provide coverage of a range of topics relevant to modern telecommunication, computer or electronic engineering. Projects and topics will vary from year to year and the following examples are given for guidance only: satellite communications compared to optical communications for intercontinental connects; design of telecommunication networks; domestic and small business communications; telecommunications for developing countries.

Normally there will be three or four projects plus an extended exam. Projects are done in groups. Each topic is self contained and will normally encompass research into background; literature search; synthesis of information; comparison of options; production of any output; writing of report; presentation of results.
