  • Human hearing, speech system, psychoacoustics, masking
  • Acoustics of musical instruments
  • Standards Wordlengths, speech standards: G.728 etc, music standards.
  • Music signal compression: MPEG1 (MP3) AAC, AC3
  • Surround sound synthesis: Ambisonics, dolby, DTS, binaural, trans-aural
  • Musical instrument synthesis: Additive, subtractive, FM, physical modelling, karplus-strong
  • Internet music distribution & Future formats: Streaming, download, SACD, DVD-A
  • Pitch estimation (voice)
  • Source-filter model and LPC coding: Cepstrum
  • CELP, RELP
  • Waveform coders: ADPCM, Delta Mod and others
