MSc in Wireless Networks
The whole area of wireless networks is now of enormous importance in the telecommunications and computing industries, from 3G mobile communications, to wireless LANs and newer technologies like WiMax. To cover this breadth, the Wireless networks MSc is now offered in two pathways:
If you choose this pathway the emphasis will be on the radio aspects of wireless networks. You will work on RF design, antennas and propagation. To be able to cope with this aspect of the subject you should have a first degree that included Electromagnetics and you should be familiar with such topics as Maxwell’s Equations and basic antenna theory.
This pathway is concerned with the protocols and services carried over wireless networks. If you choose this you will need some basic programming experience (preferably Java or another object-oriented language) and a basic knowledge of telecommunications networks.
